This is a bit of a cheat. The sky didn't actually look like this. This is what I got when I was adjusting levels in Photoshop and decided to let it to it automatically just to see what it looked like. Automatic level-adjustment works fairly well on black and white photos, but does some really odd things to colour photos sometimes, because it seems to be trying to balance the colour at the same time.
