p e r s o n a l i t y ?
I am prepared to meet anyone, but whether anyone is prepared
for the great ordeal of meeting me is another matter.
(Mark Twain)

I've been known by a fair truckload of names throughout my time on the net,
not to mention just the past year (funnily enough, this declaration works
for just about any year since 1995...). There is no single general-purpose
name I am using right now. Among otherkind types I am also known as Eshari,
which has stuck pretty fast by virtue of so many people knowing me as that,
even if I am not sure it is a "right" name for me anymore.
I graduated from California State University, Sacramento, in 2000. I majored
in Art Studio, not because I was particularly interested, but because there
was nothing else there I wanted to study (life tip: don't go to a college you
have no particular reason to go to just because your boyfriend refuses to go
to southern California with you to attend the college you actually want to attend).
Producing art on demand for hours and hours a day five days a week is a lot
more tiring than you'd think, even if it isn't academically difficult (though
try upper division art history!). For the last semester or two, it mainly meant
having to produce photographs on demand for hours and hours a day five days
a week, and that's actually worse because of all the out-of-class time one spends
shooting pictures in the first place! *pant, pant* Do not take
three photography classes at the same time. Just another little
tip from me to you. However, it sure does help build up a body of work...(photography:
it does a body of work good?)

This isn't a personal ad, but I figured I might put in some of that personal-ad-like
stuff, just so that you can know what I'm all about.
- Sex, build, coloration: If you want to know, try some pictures
of me.
- Age: 29. No, really. Just turned it yesterday (as of this writing).
- Astrology: It's simplest to say Virgo, Aquarius rising, but I'm cusped (with
Leo) on the sun, and the whole thing is just one big starry mess. (Kinda reminds
me of me.) In Chinese astrology I am a Horse of the element Earth.
- Religion: Pagan witch, basically, trying to synthesize my own "tradition"
of my various faery and witchy and pagan inclinations. Being faery
certainly colours my spiritual notions, but that's not religion. Sympathetic
to Discordianism, but
I don't call myself one anymore. Lately I work mainly with the Faery and Underworld
material RJ Stewart
writes, although this is "spiritual path and set of techniques"
and not religion per se (people of many varying religions work with it).
- Occupation: Back in the old Open Media Lab job I used to have (argh!).
It kinda sucks, although there's something to be said for $26.41 an hour (when
you count my swing shift differential) and jumping back in at 10 hours of
vacation per month, 100% dental coverage, etc. things that go along with keeping
my seniority.
- Music that tickles my fancy: The
Cure, Weird Al Yankovic,
Peter Murphy
(that's two different links there), R.E.M.,
They Might Be Giants, most
anything you'd stick on a Dr.
Demento CD, Depeche
Mode, Pet Shop
Boys, New
Order, VNV Nation,
Pink Floyd, the Moody
Blues, and Genesis, for starters. It would be pointless (as well as annoying)
to try to list all the kinds of music I like well enough to bother listening
to, so I won't. But what hasn't already been represented includes Celtic,
musical theatre, deep house, funk, disco, surf, swing, big band, some folk,
some punk, and some ska. I also need to randomly plug Elvendrums,
a band of real elves who are real cool. You may also wish to see the list
of CDs I own.
- Movies that I dig: like the above, to list them all would be annoying if
not impossible. So the rundown is Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before
Christmas, Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, The Matrix (just the first
one... egh), Monty Python flicks, Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, the Evil Dead
series, The Neverending Story, Harold and Maude, The Last Unicorn, The Addams
Family, The Court Jester, the Star Wars saga, and the Lord of the Rings.
- TV: I watch almost no new TV these days. I don't remember the last time
I watched Adult Swim,
even. I dig MST3K (duh!),
Red Dwarf (duh!), and Star Trek: The Next Generation.
- Malkavian: no, of course not. Third base!
