These are some books that might sound like they'd be relevant to otherkin,
but which in my opinion are not helpful.
- Brett (or apparently also "Nancy") Davis, The
Faery Convention. This is basically a weak spy/intrigue novel with
some of the characters made "supernaturals" seemingly just for the
novelty. In most cases the characterization of the different non-human races
is extremely thin and the names of the ones that have names are mostly just
silly.
- D.J. Conway, Dancing
with Dragons. How much can I rant about this book? Actually, it's
somewhat less egregiously wrong than her "Celtic" or "Norse"
books, mainly because there is no historic "dragon" tradition to
compare to. Like those two, though, this is just everyday generic Neo-Pagan
ritual with some kind of flavour grafted on ("dragon" in this case).
If you are looking for "dragon magic", that is, magic practiced
in dragon style, put this book down because it ain't it. This book might possibly
be useful for someone who was totally unaware of the idea that there are dragon
spirits out there who can be persuaded to help learn/work (human) magic, as
a very basic introduction to the subject, but that's about it.
