Again, a good portion of this tends to fall into the immersion-in-magical-world type of thing, rather than being specifically about otherkin, although a number of them involve specific types that otherkin identify as.

Adaptations of books on the Fiction page (return to top)

• The Last Unicorn. A live-action version is also in production.
• Alice in Wonderland. Many other versions of this story have also been produced.
• Mary Poppins
• Peter Pan. There are several versions of this, too, lately the live-action from 2003 and the darker-looking Neverland.
• The NeverEnding Story. Forget the sequels.
• The Lord of the Rings. Besides Peter Jackson's lavish live-action versions, there have also been a couple animated versions: Ralph Bakshi's odd-looking (IMO) Lord of the Rings and the Rankin & Bass Return of the King I fondly remember from childhood (has some great songs - dig the orcs' slave-marching song). Rankin & Bass also did The Hobbit, but I haven't seen it.

• Fairy Tale: A True Story. Children have encounters with fairies (based on the Cottingley photographs).
• Ferngully: The Last Rainforest. Fairy-like forest spirits against a polluting corporation. (I have no idea how the sequel measures up.)
• A Midsummer Night's Dream. Shakespeare? Fairies? Come on. You know it. (There's several different versions of this.)
• The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns.
• The Fairy Faith. Semi-documentary about fairy beliefs and encounters in Ireland, England, Scotland, and Cape Breton.
• Photographing Fairies.

Dragons (return to top)

• The Flight of Dragons.
• Dragonheart. The sequel to this (Dragonheart - A New Beginning) isn't quite as bad as The Neverending Story II, but still nothing to write home about.

Weird Stuff & Miscellaneous (return to top)

• Yellow Submarine. Utterly bizarre fantasy/magical world. Uh, it's not about acid... right?
• The Matrix. The world you see is not the real world. The Matrix itself is rather less awkwardly self-conscious than The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions.
• What Dreams May Come. Soulbonds, among other things.
• Pleasantville. A few people see colour in a black and white world, and bring it to everyone else.
• The Secret of Roan Inish.
